Dedication and Commitment to Serve
Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home is a family owned and operated business. Hackett Funeral Home was started by Fred N. Hackett, Sr. in 1951. Mr. Hackett established the ideals and quality service recognized by everyone in Southwest Iowa. That tradition was carried on by his son, Fred Hackett, Jr., and later by Vaughn Livingston, who joined the firm in 1983. Vaughn and his wife, Joan, bought the funeral home in 2002.
It is a priority to the Livingstons’ to shop in the Shenandoah and other area communities. “We want our community to know we support them by setting an example. We raised our kids here, go to church here, built careers here; we want the community to know we are dedicated to them.” shares Vaughn Livingston, owner.
Matt Livingston, Funeral Director adds, “We know people associate us negative feelings sometimes but it is important they trust us with their needs. In turn, we have gained powerful friendships and connection with our area because we have made their already difficult need, less demanding.”
Not only is the father-son partnership of directors a proud point for the Livingston family but wife/mother Joan is instrumental in pre-planning, service arrangements and office administration. Their employees are the same as family. The family team at Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home prides itself on its commitment to serving families in their community and the surrounding communities through some of the most difficult times in their lives.
