Marty Rieken grew up in Griswold, IA where he graduated from Griswold High School in 1993. He attended South Dakota State University and graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science. Marty attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, IL and graduated in 1998. He worked at several different funeral homes before he and his wife Kristy purchased Vieth Funeral Home from Alan and Suzanne Vieth in 2001. They purchased the Duhn Funeral Home in 2012.
In January 2020, Marty & Kristy Rieken purchased Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home. Marty and Kristy have five children: Kyler, Keaten, Kort, Kasper, and Maelie.
Matt grew up in Shenandoah and graduated from Shenandoah High School with the class of 1995. After high school he attended and graduated from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa with a Business degree. After a few years working in Omaha and Des Moines for varies companies, Matt decided to attend mortuary science school in Kansas City at Kansas City Kansas Community College. He graduated in the fall of 2004 and has been a licensed funeral director since 2005.
Matt and his wife Tammy live in Shenandoah. They have no children by they have a nephew and three nieces that they love to spoil. He enjoys golfing and is a huge fan of the Iowa Hawkeye and all the Chicago sports teams. He is an active member of the Shenandoah Elks Lodge #1122 and a board member for the Shenandoah Medical Center Foundation.
Staci L. Shearer
Funeral Director, Pre-Need Agent
Staci was born and raised in the community of Farragut, where she currently resides. Staci has been involved in funeral service since 2005 when she graduated from Kansas City Kansas Community College with a degree in Mortuary Science. She believes that her work in the funeral industry is making a difference in peoples lives. To her being a funeral director is more then just a job title, its her passion.
Staci is a member of the Farragut United Methodist Church, the Farragut Cemetery Board, Shenandoah Rotary Club, is the current board chairperson of Corner Counties Early Childhood Area, serves on the Fremont County Foundation Board, and is involved with lay ministering duties with the Churches of the Hope and Faith Circuit. Her family includes her grown children Riley and Miranda who both reside in Des Moines and her boyfriend Brian Maxine and his daughter Sophie of Shenandoah. She is the daughter of Kirk and Sherry (Funkhouser) Shearer now of Bettendorf, Iowa. Some of her favorites include eating seafood, spending time outdoors and traveling.
Vaughn grew up in Council Bluffs where he attended school. His mother was a substitute teacher and his father a funeral director for Woodring Funeral Home in Council Bluffs. After his marriage to Joan, he attended and graduated from Indiana College of Mortuary Science in 1974. Vaughn currently holds licenses in three states Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri.
Vaughn has worked in various funeral homes in the communities of Council Bluffs, Neola, Emerson, Nebraska and Lake City. In 1983 he came to Shenandoah and worked for Hackett Funeral Home. Later purchasing the business in 2002.
Vaughn has been involved in the community of Shenandoah by taking active roles in the Optimist Club, Knights of Columbus, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Elks Lodge and Boy Scouts. Professionally he has served as Past President of the Iowa Funeral Directors Association, Funeral Service of Iowa, holds an Iowa Life Insurance license and he is a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner. He has been published in the National Funeral Directors Magazine.
The couple has been blessed with three children; Troy and wife Heidi and their children Zander and Ruby of Kansas City, Missouri; Matt and wife Tammy of Shenandoah; and Amy Gould and husband Neil and their children Meredith and Savannah of Pleasant Hill, Iowa. Although not a Shenandoah native, he is proud to call this his home.
