Michelle Kay "Shelley" (Perkins) Armstrong, daughter of Russell Ward and Helen Grace (Baucom) Perkins was born on August 22, 1955. She passed away, after a brief illness, early on December 24, 2018 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 63.

With her father being in the military, Shelley lived in several different places during her early childhood. She attended kindergarten through eight grade in Panama, Shenandoah and Virginia. Her family eventually settled in Shenandoah where she attended school from 9th grade through early graduation in December 1972.

That same month, on December 16, 1972, she was united in marriage to Kenneth "Ken" Armstrong at First United Methodist Church in Shenandoah. Following their wedding they made their home in Essex where they raised three children; Jason, Nikki and Jamie. Shelley and Ken were busy following their children around for sporting and band events and later their grandchildren's events and activities.

In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Shelley was known around town as being a school bus driver from many years. Later, she was known as the "famous" pizza maker at Casey's.

Preceding Shelley in death were her parents, husband Ken; brother Bill Perkins; infant brother Charles Perkins; brother-in-law John Armstrong; granddaughter Claire McKinney and infant nephew Justin Perkins.

Shelley is survived by her three children Jason Armstrong and wife Mary Anne of Clarinda, Nikki Garner of Shenandoah and Jamie Swaim and husband Jonathan of Essex; grandchildren; Ryan and Chris McKinney, Alexandra, Jacob, Samantha, Tabitha and Vincent Armstrong, Breanna Delp and husband Marcus, Brydget Bird, Lyzzy Garner, Qwintyn and Paityn Vanatta, Dalton, Sacca, Shayenne and Dakota Swaim; great-granddaughter Scarlett Vojchehoske; brothers, Don Perkins of Shenandoah, Bob Perkins of Essex and Pat Perkins of Essex; sister-in-law Betty Jo Phillips and husband Terry of Shenandoah; brothers-in-law, Bert Armstrong of Shenandoah and Troy Armstrong of Knob Knoster, MO; very good friend, Susan Tysor; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many other friends.

Shelley was a wonderful loving wife, mommy, grandma, aunt, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed.

Pending Celebration of Life Service.

Shelley & Ken were my neighbors for many years. I always enjoyed chatting with her. When the kids were growing up and then later grandkids, you would always see Shelley or Ken outside playing with them. Now as I look at the house it seems so empty. The neighborhood won't be the same. RIP Shelley! You will be missed!

Shelly was like a second mom to me growing up and even into my adulthood. I always felt like I could tell her anything. The laughter and joy the she brought to my life will live on forever in my heart and mind. We lost an amazing lady but Heaven gained one. My thoughts and prayers are with Jason and Mary Anne. Nik and Jules, Jamie and Jonathan and your children and grandchildren as you try to navigate your way through the coming days, weeks and months. Love to you all. Your mom was an absolutely amazing one of a kind person and I am blessed to have known her.
