Janette passed away on Wednesday morning, February 13, 2019 at the Oakland Manor.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the Belknap Township Cemetery in rural Oakland, Iowa. The family will greet friends Tuesday morning at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Janette Elaine Smith was born on January 31, 1944 in Argyle, Iowa, the daughter of Layden George and Eula May (Richey) Smith. Janette entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 in Oakland, Iowa.
Janette's early years were spent in the town of Montrose, Iowa where she attended school. On April 22, 1961 she was united in marriage to Gary Eugene Rowe in Chicago, Illinois. The couple later to moved to Hawaii and Topeka, Kansas while Gary served in the military. Upon Gary's discharge the couple moved to Scranton, Kansas until 1984, then to Macedonia, Iowa until 1994 and lastly to their farm outside of Northboro.
Janette was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. While raising her family she sold Avon for 20 years, working her way up to being a District Manager, sold Tupperware for 15 years and also was a Watkins distributer for 10 years. After raising her family she and Gary enjoyed making different wood crafts and selling their goods at various craft shows for over 20 years. Some of her interests included sewing, quilting, fishing, camping, gardening, tending to her flowers and spending time with her family.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Loren Leroy Smith. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 57 years Gary; daughters Alphia Stanley (Donnie) of Carbondale, KS, Donna Carter (Marvin) of Oakland, IA and Janette Looper (Mike) of Hancock, IA; sons Gary Rowe, Jr. (Suzie) of Burlingame, KS, William Rowe of Topeka, KS and Charles Rowe (Jenny) of Hancock, IA; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers John Smith of Mayetta, KS, Kevin Smith of Burlingame, KS and James Smith of Topeka, KS; sisters Janey Cruse of Kansas City, KS and Karon Lamoree of North Platte, NE; other family and friends.
